West London Business members Wilkinson Construction Consultants, have received a business boost from Retail Entrepreneur Theo Paphitis

Theo is best known for appearing on Dragons Den on BBC Two, but is also Chairman of Ryman Stationery, Boux Avenue lingerie and Robert Dyas, as well as joint owner of Red Letter Days. Theo is also a mentor and investor to many other business acquainted via the Den.

Wilkinson’s Managing Director Geoff Wilkinson tweeted Theo following their success at this year’s Red Ribbon Awards where they were highly commended as the Best Business to Work For. He explained about their award winning Building Regulation Services using the companies @ApprovedInsp account during the ‘Small Business Sunday’ initiative, set up by Theo in 2010 to support small businesses in the UK.

Theo says,

“I admire people who have passion and energy. If you cannot bore your friends to death about your own small business then something is seriously wrong. I was struck by the number of business owners on Twitter who wanted to tell me about their new products and services. Small Business Sunday was born so that people have a specific time slot to tweet and can pitch their ‘sell’ directly to me”

Each week, Theo reviews and chooses his favourite entries who are then re-tweeted to his followers – all half million of them – providing a massive boost to the chosen lucky businesses.

This week Theo chose Wilkinsons as winners and re‐tweeted @Approvedinsp message to his 500,000 followers. As a result, Wilkinson’s have seen an immediate increase in activity with Twitter Impressions increasing from around 1000 a day to over 20’000 in a matter of hours. They have also seen Profile visits increase by 122%, Mentions by 333% and Followers by over 100 within 24 hours of being featured and are now profiled on Theo’s #SBS website (www.theopaphitissbs.com) that is exclusive to all Small Business Sunday winners.

                Geoff Wilkinson said ,

“It is great to have support from Theo because our family business is niche and most people still don’t realise that they can use our services rather than the Local Council for Building Control Approvals. People think we are just a subcontractor to the Council and don’t realise we are a complete alternative and are licensed to issue the Approvals making us the actual decision makers. By using our services you still get the same plan and site checking offered by the local authority, but without the bureaucracy associated with the public sector. We also find that  people mistakenly think that because they don’t need Planning Permission they don’t need Building Regs approval either and end up with problems when they come to sell. Even minor building work such as removing a chimney, installing a toilet under the stairs, or putting up or taking down walls in their homes or workplaces can need approval. So it’s fantastic that Theo has recognised our hard work and helped spread the word about what we do to his following. Together we really are Building Standards in the UK”

Small business champion Theo Paphitis, said:

“We are thrilled to welcome new #SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK.  My vision is that everyone who has ever won an #SBS re-tweet from me becomes part of a friendly club of like-minded individuals who can share successes and learning’s. I wish Wilkinson Construction Consultants every success.”

#SBS Winners also have access to the exclusive members’ selling platform www.shopsbs.co.uk where hundreds of winners are already selling thousands of products, from unique gifts and bespoke furniture to pet toys or jewellery.

It is another opportunity for the #SBS winners to turn tweets into sales. Anyone looking to follow in Wilkinson’s footsteps and get a business boost from Theo should tweet him about their business on Sunday between 5 PM and 7.30 PM and include the hashtag #SBS. The lucky businesses are re‐tweeted every Monday at 8 PM and then invited to enter their profile on the website and attend the annual #SBS networking event where they can meet Theo in person and take advantage of the networking opportunities with fellow SBS winners.
