On the 30th March this year, West London Business were successful in getting the EU duty of 6.3% on PPE reduced to nil when Rupa Huq MP for Ealing Central and Acton lobbied on their and Wrapology’s behalf to lift the levy on face masks imported from China. But this lift is temporary and only in place until 31st July 2020. Now as this deadline approaches, West London Business and Park Royal’s Wrapology are lobbying parliament again for an extension to the nil value customs and import duty on PPE equipment.
With more demand than ever before for face masks as they are now compulsory attire on public transport and in many areas of face to face business, it is even more vital that a regular supply into the UK is maintained.
Park Royal based Wrapology’s Annika Bosanquet told us “Even when we come to a point when we can all definitely return outdoors, hostel workers, care home workers, police, construction staff etc. will all need protective masks and this cost adds on an unnecessary barrier to us all keeping safe.”
Rupa Huq MP will raise the issue of extending this lift in her forthcoming parliamentary conference to the Cabinet Office and Shadow Chancellor.
