Trump, the UK and International Trade

Although US-UK relations have always been on very good terms, with the result of Brexit and trade deals being dismantled and rebuilt, should UK SMEs be prepared for uncertainty?

It is not clear how UK SMEs might be affected by the election of Donald Trump. Experts are confident the dollar’s strength will continue, however with the prospect of currency volatility and with the President-elect’s policies yet to be finalised, it is understandable that the aforementioned will impact investment decisions for some, not just in the US, but globally.

Our latest debate will be chaired by Sir Michael Snyder,
who apart from being a partner for 42 years and leading the firm for 37 years; first as Managing Partner, and from 1990 as Senior Partner, is also an elected Member of the City of London where he was the Chairman of Policy and Resources, for over five years.

Our Chair will be joined by Vernon Hill, Mark Hoban and Richard Kopelman.
Vernon Hill is Chairman and Founder of Metro Bank PLC. He is often credited with reinventing American banking with Commerce Bank, which he built from scratch to over 500 branches.

Prof Mark Hoban is a British Conservative Party politician, Financial Secretary to the Treasury and a former Minister of State for Work and Pensions. He also chairs the City’s International Regulatory Strategy Group.

Finally, Richard Kopelman who is CEO & Managing Partner of one of the largest accountancy, tax and consultancy firms in the US, Habif, Arogeti & Wynne LLP.

If you can’t make it, don’t worry. We will be live streaming the debate and it will also be available on our Youtube channel after the event.

However, we do hope you can join us for what will be a very lively discussion.
