Congestion is a major challenge at peak times for businesses trying to move staff and goods on/ off Park Royal. Park Royal is surrounded by a ring of stations with bus routes running through the centre. The Grand Union canal runs along the northern edge of Park Royal providing a walking and cycling route for some workers. PRBG inputted to the process that led to OPDC’s transport study for Park Royal.
Transport is one of the toughest areas to secure ‘quick wins’. However, some of the areas PRBG and WLB have been working on in recent years are:
- WestTrans Delivery and Service Plans (DSP) guidance and toolkit
- Encouraging on-demand minibus service providers, such as Chariot, to consider Park Royal for pilots – WestTrans are currently undertaking a West London study looking at this opportunity
- Bike sharing schemes, such as Mobike, to make it easier – although we are conscious that much more investment is needed to make cycling safer in Park Royal and these schemes need to be managed responsibly
- West London Orbital overground – is now in the Mayor’s Transport strategy. This will hopefully see a new passenger service on the Dudding Hill freight line running from Hammersmith to Old Oak Common Lane to Brent Cross
