London First appoints John Dickie as its new Chief Executive

London First has announced that John Dickie, previously the organisation’s Policy and Strategy Director, will step up to the helm as the new CEO of the business campaigning group.

Mr Dickie’s appointment follows an extensive selection process carried out by executive search firm Odgers. A former Deputy Leader of Camden Council, John’s previous senior roles prior to London First include Head of Corporate Affairs at the BBC.

John Dickie, CEO of London First, said:

I am excited and enthused to lead London First at such a critical time for the capital.

London First has an essential role to play as a champion of the city, making the clear case for the actions to put London on a rapid path to recovery; to tackle the capital’s long-standing competitiveness challenges, such as over housing and skills; and, as we recover, to level up in London as part of levelling up across the whole UK.

I look forward to working with our members, supporters and friends across the UK to cement London’s place as the best city in the world in which to do business, for the benefit of the whole of our country.”

Paul Drechsler CBE, Chair of London First, said:

John understands first-hand the huge collective effort from Government, London boroughs, businesses and local communities that combine to make London the best Capital City in the world to live, work and play.

His passion for London’s recovery, strong relationships with its decision makers and commitment to making it happen are second to none. He knows how to ensure London First remains a brilliant advocate for the city at such a critical time.

I know John will do everything he can to go the extra mile to rally the capital’s businesses in pulling out all the stops to champion and accelerate the capital’s recovery.”

Andrew Dakers, CEO, West London Business, added:

“WLB has a long standing collaborative working relationship with London First.   We look forward to building on this under John’s leadership and we are delighted to welcome him as a new member of the WLB Leaders’ Forum.”
