Leigh Centurions halfback/hooker, Lewis Foster, has joined the London Broncos on a month long loan.
The 23 year old came up through St Helens’ academy programme, before debuting for Leigh’s reserves side in 2014.
The youngster has played ten games for the Centurions (scoring his first try against Batley in Leigh’s crucial 2016 Qualifiers campaign), and has prior Championship and League 1 experience in 2017, having already spent time with Sheffield Eagles and Whitehaven on dual registration.
London Broncos Head Coach, Andrew Henderson, said: “These last few weeks haven’t been great for us on the injury front – we’ve had at least seven of our top 24 players out, and going into Rochdale we had eight players unavailable through injury.
“With a tough Easter period coming up I thought it wise to make some enquiries about suitable players that would add value to the squad, and if we continue to pick up injuries I may need to bring in another one or two if possible to keep things fresh and competitive within the group.
“Leigh Coach Neil Jukes spoke highly of Lewis, and from what I have seen he will be a good fit for us. The addition of Lewis will give us further cover at hooker and halfback positions.
“Even with our injuries at present we still possess a very strong and competent squad who can get the job done. The current players have a great opportunity now to perform well, and cement their positions in the coming weeks, as we will get a good influx of players back after the Easter period.
“I would to extend my thanks to Neil Jukes and the Leigh Centurions club for allowing this to happen. We welcome Lewis into the fold and hope he will perform well during his time with us.”
Foster will be available for selection for Sunday’s match versus Sheffield Eagles.
