LANDLORDS BEWARE
From 1st April next year it will become a requirement for all properties rented out in the Private Rented Sector to have a minimum Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of E.
These new regulations are effective on all new let’s and tenancy renewals.
In addition from 1st April 2020 the legislation will be extended to include all tenancies.
With the introduction of this new legislation it will become UNLAWFUL to rent out a property that is in breach of this legislation ie with a energy rating below E,A property with a EPC rating of F or G would fail.
A penalty of up to £4000 can be imposed for a breach of the regulations.
