Building London's Cleantech innovation prowess; supporting our Capital's Net Zero targets
The Better Futures programme (including the Green New Deal funded Better Futures+ element) supports London's sustainability targets by providing innovative solutions to the carbon crisis as well as helping SMEs with their Environmental Sustainability strategies and action plans.
Getting London to Net Zero.
Promoting London's cleantech, low carbon and resource efficient industry. And we want to reward carbon cutting businesses.
London is already Europe's leading tech hub and now we want to grow the Capital's reputation as a beacon for Cleantech innovation - companies producing technologies, goods and services that reduce negative impacts on our environment.
Now in its fifth year, the Better Futures programme - co-funded by the GLA and ERDF - continues to give over 180 small businesses the boost they need to be successful in London, and create a hub for low-carbon and circular industries in our city.
Measuring. Monitoring. Reducing
In 2021. as a natural next step in the development of the Better Futures programme, we announced an expansion, funded by the Mayor's Green New Deal Fund.
This expansion programme, Better Futures+, allows increased activity and diversification of support to ensure that London's transition to Net Zero advances despite the pandemic. The pilot completed in June 2021, produced 12 Net Zero Heroes across different sectors who have become ambassadors for 'greening' businesses efficiently, cost effectively and easily. The next phase continues with expanding the support offered to over 500 businesses across London - a programme being delivered between January 2022 and March 2023.
