Air pollution is not just a central London problem, with all areas of London exceeding the legal limits for pollution.
That is why from 25 October 2021, the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) is expanding to cover all areas within the North and South Circular Roads to help clean up London’s air.
From 25 October, cars, motorcycles, vans and other specialist vehicles (up to and including 3.5 tonnes), and minibuses (up to and including 5 tonnes) will either need to meet the ULEZ emissions standards, or pay a daily charge of £12.50 when driving within the expanded ULEZ zone. Most vehicles already meet the standards but if you drive a diesel vehicle over 6 years old or a petrol vehicle over 15 years old, use TfL’s vehicle checker to see if you are affected.
