Dame Kelly Holmes Trust’s Hillingdon Get on Track programme

Dame Kelly Holmes Trust thanks you!

Thank you to the West London Business community for the funds raised through table top donations and our Silent Auction at the awards evening in February. Your generosity raised a fantastic £4789.71! Thank you! Take a few minutes to read about our Hillingdon programme and the journey of the young people in your community.

The Hillingdon Get on Track programme, run by Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, started on March 22nd and runs through until May 10th. The attendance is good with 18 young people enrolled.

All the young people will complete the programme with the following training/qualifications:

  • Sports Leaders Award
  • First Aid and Basic Support
  • Customer Service Training

The programme’s community event will be a Sports Day for 120 Primary School children from the local community, organised and run by the young people.

The young people will also attend a corporate day, where they will travel to KPMG in Canary Wharf for a Dragons Den session, aimed at improving their teamwork and presentation skills.

Finally there will be an employment day in the last week of the programme, this will be attended by employers and training providers who have worked in partnership with the YMCA on all of their previous Get on Track programmes.  Those due to attend include:

  • Heathrow Academy
  • Young London Working
  • The Arch
  • Skills Training
  • ESP Training

The delivery partners, YMCA, intend to reward the young people the day after the community event.  The activity will be chosen by the winning team of the programme’s town task.  This is where the young people go out into the community to research, collate information and perform tasks where they engage with the local community and provide evidence.
