CEO Sleepout, a national charity set up to fight homelessness and poverty, challenged bosses from companies across London and is well on the way to achieving its £100,000 target. The sleepout was held at Lord’s Cricket Ground in north-west London and business leaders slept out, on one of the coldest nights this year, in a bid to raise money and awareness of the rising poverty crisis in the UK. Founded in 2015 by Chairman Andy Preston, CEO Sleepout events have been held across the UK, including eight sleep out events to come this year.
This year, CEO Sleepout has partnered with Walking with the Wounded to bring together fundraisers to spend a night under the stars and experience a fraction of what those without homes go through, every night.
Some of the other charities benefitting from the funds raised include Street Child United, Borderline and The House of St Barnabas.
CEO Sleepout’s National Coordinator, Bianca Robinson, said: “We are overwhelmed by the support we received from London business leaders and are so grateful for the generosity of everyone who’s donated to this incredible cause.
“Sleeping outside on one of the coldest nights this year was very testing and I’d like to say a special thank you to all those who participated. We’re aiming to reach £100,000 in donations from the business people of London, which will be truly life changing for those who are struggling with homelessness and poverty.”
