The Capital West London Growth Summit, organised on behalf of the West London Alliance, is being held on October 30, 2018, at The Drum at Wembley.
Who will be there?
West London’s economic development community will come together for the event and be joined by the national and international investment community, who are interested in the opportunities in the sub-region. The seven member local authorities will be there, along with London bodies such as the Greater London Authority, TfL, and London & Partners. The private sector will be represented with developers, investors, and consultants, along with occupiers’ agents scouting potential locations for their clients.
What will be discussed?
During the day delegates will discuss key topics affecting the sub-region, such as:
- Places – West London is blessed with great places and thriving town centres with exceptional environment and quality of life. You will hear about development plans in several key locations – Wembley, Brent Cross, Old Oak and more.
- Connections – It is already one of the best-connected places in the world – halfway between the leading global financial centre and Europe’s busiest airport. But there will be more – Crossrail will open soon, HS2 is on the horizon, Thameslink will come to Brent Cross, and the West London Orbital is in the Mayor of London’s transport plan. What opportunities does this produce?
- Culture – Even before Brent was chosen as Borough of Culture, West London had a thriving offer in food, leisure, theatre and the arts. How can the sub-region use this to our advantage?
- Economy – At £73bn, West London’s economy is larger than any in the UK bar the Central Activity Zone in London. Over 120,000 companies employ nearly a million people in rapid-growth sectors in the knowledge economy, as well as in companies in Park Royal, the largest business park in the UK. Where are the opportunities for further growth?

There will also be GLA representation – Heidi Alexander, Deputy Mayor for Transport – has confirmed, as has Liz Peace, chair of the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation. And the private sector will be strongly represented, with speakers like James Saunders of Quintain, and Jackie Sadek of UK Regeneration.
