Ackers re-commits to the Broncos

Andy Ackers has re-committed to the London Broncos, signing a contract extension which will see him remain with the club until at least 2018.
Moving from Swinton Lions at the end of the 2015 season, Ackers was a pivotal member of the squad who secured promotion to the Kingston Press Championship from League One, after defeating Keighley Cougars 29-28 in a thrilling play off final.

Enjoying a strong start in London, Ackers has made a total of 12 appearances, scoring four tries, and notching up a man of the match performance against Bradford, whilst still only half way through the season.

“Ackers has really impressed in his first season with the Broncos,” said head coach, Andrew Henderson.
“He’s continually improving as a player and has been a strong performer on a match day. The number of appearances he has made reflects that.
“Building an honest, humble, and strong, united group who inspire our youngsters and rugby league down south is something we’ve been concentrating a lot of our efforts on this season. Ackers has been fantastic in buying into this and representing these values. He’s exactly the type of player and person to take this great club in the direction we want it to head in.”

Happy to now be calling the capital home, Ackers says the decision to extend his time with the club was an easy one. “I’m really happy to be staying on with the club. I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far, and it’s fantastic to be offered the chance to keep doing the work we’re doing.

“Obviously we’ve had a strong start to the season in 2016, but we’ve definitely worked hard for it. We’d like to continue to put in the hard yards and only improve further from here, and I’m really pleased I’ll be around for that.
“It’s a really solid group of boys, and a club I’m very proud to be a part of.”
